    Hi. I received my passport when I was living in Vijayawada. I am in US now. But now my parents and next of kin live in Mysore, Karnataka. If I am applying for NORI, should I be applying in Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh home department.

    The normal process is you will send application to home department. Home department will send police or CBI enquiry to your home address. After confirming everything is clean, they will send report to home department. Home department will send no objection letter. If your current home address is in Karnataka then you need to apply to Home department, Karnataka.

      Hi, I am in a similar situation as above. The permanent address on my passport is that of Uttar Pradesh, while my mom now lives with my sister in Pune. My doubt is where should I send my documents now for department of home state?

      If your permanent address and current address are different, you need to send the application where you can provide valid address proof such as Aadhar card. in addition, your parents or siblings must be available at that address. There will be official back ground enquiry and CBI will come and inspect at your local police station and take information required. If no one is living there it is not possible for them to prepare report on you.

    Hi Nanaji, There no mechanism to know the status unless someone personally go there and ask them. I came to know my application is in process when police enquiry came to my home.

    Hi,

    I mean to extend my J1 visa for one year by applying for a new J1 Visa this Dec. Also, I was thinking of handing my NORI docs to the departments in person while I am in India. Question I have is that if it is okay, for me to start the application as I have only till Dec 2019 to get my waiver.
    And my current address is Delhi, even though my I was in Jharkhand. My home state department would be Delhi as well right ?

    Hello Koteshwara Rao, I am supporting my wife's J1 waiver and we have submitted the attested copies to MHRD website and are in process of sending them to Passport office and AP Government. Thanks for the address but please advise whether its fine to send the letter by post or do we have to submit in person ?

    Firstly, I appreciate your social responsibility in helping the scientific community through your blog. Here is my concern.

    I have hyderabad address in my passport as permanent address. However, eventually I moved to different places in India for job purpose and am currently in US pursuing postdoc. Originally, I belong to andhrapradesh and currently my parents live in andhra pradesh. Could you please suggest, where I have to send my passport and home department applications. Fortunately, my brother stays in hyderabad. Can I send both the applications to hyderabad and mention my brother as next of kin. Please suggest.

    Hi,
    I am in India and willing to go back to US for a postdoc position. But my visa is subject to 212e. I have returned last year in August, if I need the waiver please let me know how can I apply to the passport office and dept of state for the NORI to apply for the waiver. Ministry of human resources has made it online but I need your help to apply for the other two.

      Hi Jyothi, this is shasi..i am facing same problem, the procedure seems little different. The regional passport offcie at Hyderabad, mentioned to get attested by Consular section at Delhi for NOC. where as Consular section wants Wavier review case file number which is not possible as i returned to India and Visa was expired. what about the citizens who have retunred to home country. Have you made any progress. Reply me at bioshasi@gmail.com if you can help me.

    Thank you very much for the AP home secretariat address.
    My husband is on J1 visa and I am a dependent (J2) with him in NY. We have already requested for NORI from all three departments in India (Ministry of Human Resource-Delhi, Reagional Passport office-Hyderabad and AP home secretariat- Guntur). I wanted to know if Police inquiry comes to the Indian residence from both passport office and Home secretariat separately? If so, what documents will they ask?

    Recently my passport expired last year, so i applied new from chicago embassy. What passport number should i give in the NORI form, old one or new one?
    Also, I am form Andhra Pradesh, but my passport issued from Chennai, do i need to send forms to chennai passport office or to nearest andhra pradesh passport office ?

    My name is Manisha, I have to apply for NORI from the home dept of state. I got the documents attested from Indian consulate but I am not sure about my home dept of state.

    I am from Uttar Pradesh and my passport has UP address. Recently I got married and my aadhar address has maharashtra address. Also my NORI Biodata has Maharashtra address as permanent address. I am enclosing the documents below.

    Please tell me which home dept of state I should send NORI Papers to ?

    I have a question regarding NoRI. My First passport is issued in Hyderabad and second passport in Vijayawada. Do I need to submit my NORI documents to Vijayawada or Hyderabad?
